Upcoming Changes to Prescription Lengths:

The Government has changed the rules regarding the duration of some prescriptions.  From 1 February 2026, where it is safe and clinically appropriate, some will be allowed up to 12 months.

It is important to know:

           • 12-months prescriptions will only be suitable for a small number of patients, generally those who are on one stable long-

           term medication that does not require frequent monitoring. Prescriptions for controlled substances are not included.

           • Our clinicians will be reviewing all requests on a case-by-case basis. The decision about the length of your prescription

           will depend on your individual health needs, monitoring requirements, and clinician assessment. Our goal is to keep you

           safe and to keep you well.

           * Please continue with the usual prescription process until your next appointment with your GP, at which time we will review

           your health needs and, make a decision about the most suitable length for your prescription.

 

Repeat Prescriptions

 

Repeat prescriptions are only available for stable medical conditions which have had medication previously prescribed by one of our doctors. Repeat scripts are provided at your doctor’s discretion. You must have been seen for this condition in the past 6 months. Many conditions require 3 monthly consultations (especially conditions relating to mental health).

 

Please allow at least 72 hours for your prescription to be processed.

Urgent same day scripts $32

18 years +    $27  with CSC   $17.50

14-17 years  $25  with CSC   $12.50

  0-13 years               Free

We will contact you by phone if an appointment with your doctor is needed on this occasion or if we need any further information to issue the prescription. If we do not contact you within 24 hours, the prescription will be ready (although there will be a delay over weekends and public holidays).
